Peter Paleologos

Peter Paleologos grew up in the inner western suburbs of Melbourne where he regularly attended National Soccer League games, played youth football, and became a referee, eventually becoming President of the Western Suburbs (Melbourne) referee branch.

After completing a Law degree at Deakin University, Peter joined the organizing committee of the Australian New Zealand Sports Law Association conference in Melbourne which piqued his interest in the sports law and management area.

Peter is the founder of Libero Consulting, an Australian-based football player management agency, and consultancy. He is a registered football intermediary and player agent with Football Federation Australia. He was President of the Australian Football Agents Association from 2012 to 2019 and is now the Secretary. He is also the Australian delegate to the European Football Agents Association and is an appointed pro bono counsel to provide legal aid services to players and coaches who may face disciplinary hearings.

Peter is on the editorial committee for Football Legal, the international journal for football lawyers, and has written more than 20 articles on the Australian, Asian and New Zealand football law and regulatory matters.

Peter's passion lies in improving the Australian football regulatory environment. He contributed submissions to the Crawford Report, the Report of the NSL Taskforce, and submitted his own Australasian Premier League model to the national body in 2003 as an alternative to the PFA’s Australian Premier League model.

Peter also has a Masters in Sports Business from Victoria University and completed the Business of Entertainment, Media and Sports executive course at Harvard University Business School.

He combines these roles with his position as a regulatory lawyer with the Australian Securities Investments Commission.
