Vicky Krayem

Vicky Krayem has been a journalist for the past 35 years with many of those years spent working in the world of sport.

A former Sports Editor, feature writer and sub-editor at regional publications in Northern Queensland she has covered the entire spectrum of sports – from the mainstream to the minority – and developed a deep appreciation for the importance of grassroots, community sport.

A Cairns native, she also spent more than 20 years living in Townsville with husband Rabieh Krayem who was the inaugural CEO of the North Queensland Cowboys National Rugby League team, later headed up the North Queensland Fury during their final year in the A-League, and established the Northern Fury NPL team in team in 2013. Football has been a passion for the Krayem family for the past 15 years since their sons, Adam and Jacob, started their football journeys with the Saints Eagles Souths Club in Townsville before stepping up to the Northern Fury. She worked as a committee member and administrator for both those clubs.

A move from Townsville to Brisbane to enable the boys to finish their Senior schooling at St Joseph’s Nudgee College – where they played First XI Football and proudly shared in a GPS Football Championship in 2018 – saw the family find their new football home a Wynnum Wolves which proudly celebrates its centenary in 2021.

With Rabieh in his third year as president of the club, Vicky a member of the committee, and both boys playing Senior football and coaching juniors at the club – Wynnum Wolves FC has become an integral part of the Krayem family’s lives in Brisbane.

Currently a busy volunteer administrator at Wynnum Wolves FC, Vicky is both humbled and excited to go back to her writing roots for the Centenary book project to capture the colorful 100-year history of Football at Wynnum. This is her first book.
