Some exciting news from us for our latest book.
Trevor Thompson's Playing for Australia - The First Socceroos, Asia and World Football is available to order, and it's perfectly timed for the Asian Cup that starts in January - the perfect festive season gift for anyone who loves football and really good football books.
It is meticulously researched, and takes us through the Australian football story and the search for an 'Australian identity' in football. It's a fascinating read which highlights the (still continuing) juggle between history and geography, and has lessons about our engagement with Asia.
The book is being launched on Wednesday 12 December at Gleebooks in Sydney by someone who knows more about Asia than many in Australian football - the one-and-only Asian Cup winning coach, Ange Postecoglou.
Yes! Fresh from the J.League season, Ange will join us at Gleebooks to launch Trevor's book and to give us his thoughts on what Australia can learn from Asia (and vice-versa), and how we can integrate with our regional confederation better.
Please make sure you register to attend the launch (essential if you want some food and drink!) via our page here or go straight to Gleebooks' event page.
And please don't forget to buy the book - and our other really good football books. Perfect gifts for the festive season!
