All Our Stories Matter

All Our Stories Matter

We believe all our stories matter. That is why we publish them, and why we publish for a purpose.

We have already more than proven that with our significant library of sports non-fiction, bringing stories of the people, history, and culture of sport that others will not.

It is also particularly true of the two most recent releases, Natalie Scott's A Secret Grief and Light and Shadow by Candida Baker.

In both instances, Natalie and Candida—both of whom are journalists and accomplished authors with multiple previous books from 'big name' publishers—were told that no one would read their latest work. In Natalie's case, because it was a memoir written by a 97-year-old. In Candida's, because it was a novel narrated by an 80-year-old.

We disagree.

More importantly, one way to change attitudes towards ageism in our society is to do the unexpected—and what some publishers don't have the freedom or the courage to do: publish a book written by a 97-year-old, and narrated by an 80-year-old.

In A Secret Grief, we also gain a rare window into 1930s and 1940s Australia by someone who lived through it, in an era shaped by the Jazz Age, the Great Depression, and World War II.

We hope our readers have the same courage and curiosity to discover these and our other really good books.
