The three business-related accounts which we run - Fair Play Publishing, Football Writers' Festival, and Manly Writers' Festival - are in the process of leaving X (formerly known as Twitter).
What this means is that we are no longer posting on X; we have sought our archive (they are very slow, so Elon better hope DOGE is a little more efficient!); and we have instead set-up accounts at BlueSky.
We have been considering this for a while.
We have done this now because we have found that, as X and its algorithm are increasingly used to serve, reward, and promote particular positions and people that hold no interest to us and are not aligned with our values, it is also becoming increasingly ineffective in promoting other content, especially 'good news' from a small, independent publisher who wants to share information about their really good books.
Social media can be a vehicle for good, and an essential information and communication tool for society and for business, but that is not X and it is not where we want to be.
You can follow us on Blue Sky via @fairplaybooks.bsky.social, as well as our existing platforms on Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn and YouTube.
We hope to see you there.
